Roller Skating Fun Comes to Ulysses
 | | The Racin Rollers skating rink also has a video game area with a variety of fun games. |
| For those of you who remember the good ol' days of poodle skirts and ducktails, the new roller skating rink in town should bring back some happy memories from a golden age. For the younger generation, this might be the perfect opportunity to try a new activity.
Racin' Rollers skating rink is all set to open on Friday, July 11th from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m.
Josh and Willa Eddie have been hard at work for nearly three months getting the building fixed up in time for the opening. They gutted most of the previous furnishings and remodeled the bathrooms.
"We wanted a place for families to hang out," says Willa Eddie. "Ulysses hasn't had a skating rink before and we wanted a way to keep kids out of trouble."
Hours will be Friday from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons will be reserved for private parties with an evening session from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays will also be reserved for private parties. To reserve the building for your party call 620-424-4411.
Everyone in the community is invited to come out to Racin Rollers skating rink this Friday evening to check out the new building and have some fun! Several raffles and drawings will be held.
| Posted By Tammie Hensley (7/10/2008 9:29 AM EDT): | | Ulysses has had a skating rink -- in fact, there has been two others that I know of. The most recent was owned by Jane Eddie and was called "Jane's Roller Rink". It was located where Teeter Irrigation is -- just East of The Landmark.
Also -- where is the new rink? An address would be helpful. |
| Posted By Julie Moral (7/10/2008 1:33 PM EDT): | | | The new skating rink will be located in the building behind Dollar General. Sorry for the confusion on the issue of skating rinks in Ulysses. You are correct.....there was a previous skating rink. Our writer was simply quoting Willa Eddie and is young enough that there has never been a skating rink in ULysses since she has been alive so she did not realize that it was not true. Thank you for reading. |
